ScarletMadeline's Makeup Mastermind Shows You How Ashlee Simpson And Kim Kardashian Have The Homecoming Look
Last week Buzznet member Mariala gave you your homecoming fashion tips, this week of ScarletMadeline's Makeup Mastermind lets learn how to do your makeup for homecoming. Even if you are not your school's homecoming king or homecoming queen, you should still know how to standout at homecoming. Get yourself the look for free with ScarletMadeline's lesson, look at Betsy Johnson dresses, Kim Kardashian's eyes and Ashlee Simpson's smile.
This fall and winter are all about making a focal point on the face, whether it be your lips or eyes.
To accomplish this I suggest the following:
-If you want your eye makeup to stand out wear nude lipstick/gloss with your bold eyeshadow
-If you want your lips to stand out wear red or pink lipstick/gloss with your neutral eyeshadow
The biggest trend for this years homecoming is tea length dresses, which to me screams VINTAGE INSPIRED!
For dresses like these ....

I suggest doing a 1950/60's inspired makeup look with a bit of a twist
First of course is the classic pinup look with an extra bit of POW for the dance:

I love this picture, I think it is a beautifully done vintage look.
-Apply a good shadow base all over your eyelid. I apply shadow base under my eye as well to help cover up dark circles. This is a MUST have for any dances, because you want to look fabulous even when you are sweating like crazy. Make sure that you apply your normal face powder over the shadow base to set it. This will make certain that your makeup is on all evening!

-Next make sure you groom those eyebrows!
-Apply a matte white eyeshadow all over your eye from your brow down to your lash line.
-Apply a very LIGHT matte eyeshadow color (pink in this picture) on the crease of your eye and blend it really well with the white. Apply a tiny bit of the pink on the outer corners of your eyelid and blend inward with the white as well. I would suggest applying a very light matte version of whatever the accent color is on your dress. So if you have a lime green belt on your dress, wear a light matte lime green where the pink is in this picture.
-Apply a bold line of black liquid liner on your eye and pull it into a cat eye. The cat eye shape in this picture is a PERFECT example of what is hot for winter 2009-2010. No more curvy cat eyes this season, everything is about straight bold angles.
-To finish off the look apply a very small amount of black pencil liner under your eye or apply a small amount of black matte eyeshadow under your eye (that is what I always do). Then you can either apply Mascara or some fabulous false lashes to finish off those peepers.
-As I said before, if you are going to have subtle eyes (which this look does) apply a bold lip. In true 1050's fashion you should wear red lipstick! If you don't think you are ready to pull off such a bold look try some red lipgloss.

This is another great example of pulling off the pin up eyes and lips. I think Ashlee looks great, but if you are going to wear red lipstick remember to cover all of your lips. The inner part of her bottom lip is too exposed!

Kim Kardashian's eye makeup is my FAVORITE! It is bold and VERY 1960's Twiggy inspired.

This makeup would be great for a tea length dress too. Just as the look described above make sure you wear shadow base and groom those eyebrows.
- First apply a matte white shadow all over your eye from your lash line up to your brow.
- Take a matte mid tone brown and apply it on the crease of your eyelid. Make sure you blend it really well with that white! Apply that same color under your eye as a liner. I think eyeshadows used as eyeliner are great, keeps things bold without being juvenile looking.
- Apply a very shimmery white loose pigment from your crease down to your lash line. DONT BLEND IT with the brown. The great part about this look is that the white shimmery color is VERY bold and makes Kim's eyes look wider. Take that same color and pull it down t the inner corners of your eyes.
- Finish off your eyes with a thin line of liquid liner on your lash line. Dont pull it out into a cat eye, just end it at the outer corner of your eye. The Makeup is already really bold, no need to look like a drag queen. Finish off with some false lashes or mascara.
- Apply a matte rose colored blush to the apple of your cheeks and wear a nude colored lipstick.
FABULOUS!
If all else fails stick with the very popular fall/winter 2009-2010 makeup trends.

Purple Smokey Eyes like Christina's are the ultimate trend for the winter season. Everything is about bold purple eyes with nude lips or bold berry lips and neutral eyes.
