ScarletMadeline's Makeup Mastermind Looks Edie Sedgwick, Sienna Miller and Twiggy

We judge people on the arrangements of their features and their style. Care to tell me that you don't? Well, I would say that you might not judge your friends on their beauty, but you certainly pick up a magazine cover or check out a musician on stage and say "damn that girl looks awful in that outfit" or "wow what was she thinking wearing that much eyeshadow". This round of ScarletMadeline's Makeup Mastermind I will be looking at some of the hottest "it-girls". Because lots of makeup these days is 60's inspired I thought these lovely ladies would be great examples for HOT makeup looks to try out. BREAK OUT YOUR MATTE EYESHADOWS AND FALSE LASHES!

Edie Sedgwick-

Edie was a gorgeous model and wore her makeup fabulously. She had a signature look that she always looked great in. This signature look was mostly matte black and white shadows that were put on into a very hot cat eye. If you want to try out this look fill in those brows first!

*Take a matte white shadow and put it all over your lid up to your eyebrow (this will help define your arch as well). The next step I would take is to take the straight edge of a tissue and put it up to the corner of your eye, kind of like a cat eye stencil. This is a great trick when using dark shadow because not only will it form your shadow but it will catch the dust. Take a matte dark silver color and apply it from your crease up to about half way to your brow and pull it out into a cat eye. Make sure to blend this with the matte white that you are using for a base. This will keep the white shadow on your lash line visible and bright. This is a great trick to make your eyes pop! Then I would take either a liquid liner, black shadow (with a thin brush) or black shadow and paint sealant and draw a line on your crease into a cat eye shape. If you want to make this look as outrageous as Edie's continue the line on this inner side of your eye down the bridge of your nose. This is a pretty hard look to pull off and I suggest practicing a TON before going out in public (just incase you look like hell and don't realize it). Once you nail the look down though, you will look FAB! To finish off the look get some banging false lashes, black liner (for bottom) and some nude lipstick. The nude lipstick will make those eyes stand out in a crowd.

This second picture of Edie is very different from the first. If you want to try out this look once again get out the matte white shadow and liquid liner. To start apply the white shadow all over your lid (like above). Then take a matte silver shadow and shadow a bit in the crease of your lid for some depth. To finish off the eye add a thin line of black liquid liner to your lash line and apply some lengthening mascara. In this picture Edie is not wearing nude lipstick, instead I would suggest a light pink lipgloss with very little pigment. This look is very simple and stunning, try it out!

Sienna Miller -

If Edie's look is not for you but, you dig Sienna Miller (who played Edie in "Factory Girl") try out this pretty look. To start out with apply a matte taupe colored shadow all over your eye and under your eye as well. Next, blend a dark silver or purplish color from your lash line up past your crease. Next add a darker grey or black color from your lash line up to the crease. Make sure to blend all of these colors! Apply that same dark tone under your eye to use as an eye liner. To finish off the eye, add a lengthening mascara and black liner on top and bottom of the eye (inside of
eyelids). Next add a light pink/orange blush to your cheeks. Don't forget to moisturize your lips with either a colorless gloss or chapstick.  I think that this is a great simple look for school and would look great on any skin tone!

Twiggy is by far not only one of the biggest style icons of all time, but also a huge makeup icon! I love this picture because of the drawn on lower eyelashes and beautiful blue-ish gray shadow she is rocking. Apply a matte white or taupe shadow on your entire eyelid as a base. Take a blue-ish gray shadow and apply it from your crease down to your lash line. Apply a black eyeshadow or liquid liner to the crease of your lid and draw it into a
rounded semi-circle (not a cat eye) on both sides of the eye. Next, Take a very vivid sparkled white shadow and apply it to the inner corner of your eye as a highlighter.

Twiggy is definitely wearing false lashes in this picture and if you are a newbie with falsies here's a tip:

*After you glue the false lashes on, apply some black liquid liner (like in this picture) to cover up and glue marks there may be and also to cover up any mistakes. In this look, Twiggy's liquid liner extends down to the inner side of her eye and almost connects to the black shadow she used in her creases, but not quite. The liner and black shadow are separated by the white accent color. I think this is an awesome technique. Next, if you are daring take liquid liner or false lash segments (if you dont want to draw them on) and add some lower lashes like Twiggy's. This is a pretty time consuming skill and requires you to be pretty good with liquid liner. With lots of practice, I am sure you can pull it off! Be sure NOT to add mascara to your lower lid after you draw them on though, these lashes are suppose to stand out and mascara will make them blend in. Finish off the look with a  light pink blush and light pink gloss. ADORABLE!

If these looks are too much for you, try using some of the techniques (like the darkened crease or false lashes) and apply them to some of your favorite looks right now. It is true that fashion always comes back and right now the 60's are in full swing!

What is your favorite fashion era?
